Small chip in a Lightweight carbon rim
Hi all
I have a small (50mm) chip in my rear Lightweight Gipflsturm carbon rim.
I do have the wheel protection in place, so can get it repaired, but I only have two repairs per wheel over a 3 year period - so wondering if this is a big enough piece of damage to claim, or continue to ride for now ?
As you can see it isn't cracked, just chipped - but then not sure on advice. I've asked CarbonSports the same question but no response so far.

given that you've got serviceup i'd get it repaired
there's no telling how the chipped area will respond to further knocks
bear in mind european holiday season is starting, some places shut down, others just have skeleton staffing
did you use the repair@lightweight.info address?my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -
That's the catch with high end carbon wheels . No easy fix. I am a WW but those would give me sleepless nights.
hand built wheels for me. Just got some sapim super spokes to try on a build.0 -
Thanks for the advice. The wheel is on its way back to CarbonSports in Germany. They got back to me too, and advised repair. I am thinking that I start alternating my wheel sets - keep the LightWeights for special rides and training wheels for the rest (I have a spare set of light-ish alloy wheels).0
