I think I may have bent my big chainring...

When I pedal I get chain rub but only at one point of my pedal stroke. Chainset is an FSE Vero compact - what's the easiest way to fix it, buy a whole new chainset, or can I just get a replacement chainring? Problem seems to be worse when I'm on the big chainring and bigger sprockets, so would adjusting the front mech fix it?

Thanks!

If it fouls the mech cage when you pedal by hand with no load, it's bent. Then replace it.

If it only does it under pedalling loads, it's BB bearings.

  • Isn't that a square taper chainset? could be out of square on the crank.

Have you checked your chain ring bolts?

imho fsa vero chainrings bend easily, on my commute bike i had the big ring buckle on me going up the ramp from an underground car park

Take the chain ring off and lay it on a mirror or a sheet of glass to see if its still true flat. Using a square or straight edge, either on or off the spider, is not as accurate. If its true then use the advice above, best of luck.
Lets just got for a ride, the heck with all this stuff...
