Can anyone advise me of any companies that are good for insuring several bikes where they don't insist on the bikes being locked up with a chain and an alarm to be fitted as all the ones I've found seem to make unreasonable requests and stipulations. Both myself and are getting a carbon bike and will likely keep them in back 1st floor bedroom so would have thought that would be security enough but reading though several of small prints it won't

Halifax cover mine, extra for cover above a certain amount and away from home.

    Try John Lewis Home Insurance.

Look after your bike as if it wasn't insured! Keep it indoors when you're not riding it and never let it out of your sight when you are.
I walked into a quiet local Tesco with mine recently - a staff member challenged me saying that it was unhygenic! I pointed out that my bike was cleaner than most pushchairs - I managed to purchase an energy drink before she could come up with a convincing argument to stop me. :)

Or the few hundred store trolleys which are being pushed around the place.

I use the insurance which BC are associated with, I think there is a discount for being a BC member. It might cost a bit for multiple bikes though, but as long as the bikes are behind a locked door at home you're covered I believe. I do use a D-lock attached to the garage for my bike though, it takes seconds to lock and unlock the bike but would delay a thief if they did get into the garage and it would be a lot more hassle having to claim off the insurance if it was stolen.

I used to use BC for insurance too. Problem is they limit their policies to 10k and my current one is cheaper with better coverages for more than twice that amount. The other companies involved won't even allow for half of what BC will.
