Can't pick a bike

Hi guys, I've read a lot of posts on this subject, possibly too many (sorry for adding another), but I'm after a new bike, I ride Cannock chase mostly but want to be able to take it on biking trips to wales,
I can't decide between full suss and hardtail
Budget of £1000 maybe slightly more for something really nice
I'm tempted by 650b wheels
I'm 5'9"
I was looking at the vitus sentier 275 vr but it's sold out
And before someone points me to the buyers guide for sub £1000 mtb I've looked but that's based on rrp not the current prices
