I've got a clanking which seems to be coming from the crank when I'm pedalling hard, its defiantly not the pedals as I've recently changed them and they have anti seize on them,

anyone else had this problem do you think i need to grease the crank, (well get someone to do it)

its been serviced in the last couple of month from halfords (last time as warranty is up now)

    Sounds like the bottom bracket

Life is like riding a bicycle: you don't fall off unless you stop pedaling.

Had similar on mine Sintesi but only on the non-drive side when pedalling hard. Tried two things:
    1. dismantled and reassembled the BB with grease etc
    2. tightened the pedal clip release spring.

Cured the problem, but either could have been the cause.

The creak may be due to a tiny amount of play between the crank and the BB axle. Before you go through the bother of taking out and servicing the BB you could try the simpler step of just taking off the noisy crank, degrease the hole and the BB axle, rub it all clean, apply small dab of grease, and pop it back on.
  • Have 2 boardman hybrids and both made a horrible clicking noise when pedalling.
Removed pedals and both sets were dry as a bone.
Dollop of castrol grease on threads and it seems to have cured the clicking noise.
These are just standard flat pedals that came with the bike.

Also experienced similar noise from from SPDs on Genesis CDF
This wasnt pedals though and turned out to be worn cleats.
    Changed and noise now gone.

    Hope that helps
