Saddle Bag/Mobile Phone holder?

I have been trying to find my ideal phone holder or mobile holder of some sort.

Reasons are that I go out riding with the other half on her horse and for safety reasons I want to have my mobile with me as we have met a few dirt bikes on paths they are not allowed and god forbid anything happened.

In a rush I bought a TopPeak Medium saddle bag with straps, but it doesn't fit too tightly as straps not long enough and my phone didn't fit very well! Its a Nexus 5 so quite big and was worried it was going to get damaged due to it being squeezed in! Maybe a quick release bag would be better.

Also carry my inhaler in my pocket so maybe something that fits both.

I know it's quite specialised needs for such a simple item, but I'm struggling to find anything in my local bike shop as its quite small.

Any suggestions much appreciated!

I've always been a back-pack user myself, but another couple we ride with like bags attached to their bike and they use the triangular sort that fit between the top tube and the seat tube. That would seem to offer a reasonable size but be out of your way and less likely to get really muddy than a saddle bag.
    This is an example.
Expect disparaging looks from "real" mountain bikers though...

I have a top peak saddle bag on my road bike. I don't know what you mean about it not fitting, saddles are pretty standard so I don't really understand how it can fail to fit? Each strap goes through the closest saddle rail and folds back on itself.

The one I have is certainly not their largest and more than big enough for a large phone & inhaler or for me a spare inner tube, small pump, multi tool, tyre leavers & energy gels

If you want a saddle bag, I'd say Toppeak are probably as good as any. However, in the medium term you may be better off with a decent rucksack, which allows you to carry more tools & spares, a extra clothing layer & food etc.

I have a bontrager one, was pretty cheap but not bad size. I can get my 21 piece multi tool, inner tube, tyrel levers, puncture kit and smartphone in it ok and its only a medium size not the massive ones.
