HELP! London to Paris dilemma

Hello,

I'm due to do a fairly leisurely London to Paris next week. No more than 50 miles a day for 4 days.

The problem is carrying kit - we're staying B&B so can pack quite light but I have a carbon road bike with carbon seat post (and no intention of buying a new bike). There is no way to fit a traditional pannier.

I was advised a beam rack that seemed a good idea, but required a aluminium seat post (which I'd be happy to buy). However, it seems fitting any kind of load-bearing device to a carbon frame is a complete NO NO, regardless of whether the seat post is alu or carbon.

So the only alternative seems to be a rucksack, but the thought of carrying a rucksack for 4 days doesnt seem too appealing.

Any alternatives??

    Have a look at : http://www.carradice.co.uk/index.php?pa ... duct_id=43

    With one of these: http://www.carradice.co.uk/index.php?pa ... uct_id=130

Did an end to end of France last year with this arrangement plus a handlebar bag. Clothes in the barley in a compression bag and all the bits and bobs - washing stuff, kindle, chargers etc, round them. Jacket, overshoes etc webbing strapped to the d rings on the top of the bag.Totally waterproof (3days constant rain proved that!).
Spare tubes, tools and money, passport, phone, camera etc in handlebar bag (Topeak Tour Guide).

The whole arrangement worked perfectly for me.
