Fast days are slow and slow days are fast!?

I like to time my commute, and have noticed that on the days when I really feel I'm pushing it and flying, I don't necessarily get a faster time - then on days like today, when I was sure I was coasting for some of the way, I ended up doing my fastest time so far!

Is it just me or is that just how it works? :? :D

I didn't bother with Strava yesterday or today and the rides were really pleasant and less sweaty when I got to work. The simple joy of cycling.

I have been doing my current commute for 3 years. For over almost all of the rides when I get to work I've noticed it takes 58 minutes +/- 1 minute. I am not trying to achieve a certain time, looking at a speedo/strava thing or putting much effort in just potting along and spinning a comfortable gear. Weather, traffic etc seem to even themselves out.
