A mate is looking for a Full suspension bike, will be used for local trails, UK trail centers red & blacks and trips to the alps (not the full on DH routes though)
Budget is prob £1k to 1.5K.
I would have thought a Giant Trance type bike would be about right- but cautious of the Overdrive 2 system & poorer fork on the 2014 models. Not to keen on the Anthem as wants a touch more travel. Can't do Canyon etc as needs it in the next 2 weeks! Size small or perhaps medium.
I've been thinking possibly Vitus, Boardman or Rockrider or maybe a Trance 29er?
Any thoughts, ideas or bargains out there worth consideration?

Out of those I'd personally go for the Vitus VRS if he can fit a small
Also check out some of the second hand bikes0 -
Build a second hand bike would be my vote. I'm currently building a Cannondale Prophet up which I picked up locally for penuts, many bargains to be had if your handy with spanners.0
