I've got a 2011 Allez Sport which does everything I need, and I'm very happy with it. Apart from a couple of things - the Sora changers and brakes.

Rather than shell out on a new bike, I'm thinking of getting a 105 group set - have seen plenty of good deals out there. One question though. The Allez front mech bolts onto a lug welded to the frame. I presume Shimano do a 105 front mech in the same style, as well as those that clamp on to the frame ? And that this would fit the Allez frame ok ?

They are called 'braze on' front derailleurs. Like this

That's the option you want when buying the groupset. There will be no incompatibilty issues with your frame.

You can also you use them with adapters if a frame doesn't have a braze on tab, or alternatively shimano sell the clamp on one aswell.

Yip, that's exactly it. Just wanted to make sure that if I get the braze-on front mech it'll fit. Thanks for confirming !!!
