Is there such a thing as most I've seen and tried tend to be showerproof for about 5 minutes. Was caught yesterday 20 miles from home in very heavy rain. My pocket jacket lasted no time at all before it was soaked through luckily it was warmish so I actually enjoyed the sensation but, was wondering if there's a jacket out there that would stand up to heavy rain and can be fitted into a back pocket?

Altura Pocket Rocket...packs down small in a mesh pocket. Can get a bit sweaty on a warm day but waterproof.

+1 for the Pocket Rocket. However, I find the Sportful No Rain stretch jacket better (more breathable) and still packs down small.

Frankly I doubt there's anything that will survive a heavy downpour and be breathable. I focus on staying warm (windproof) rather than dry. Anything that's properly waterproof is unlikely to breathe well enough - especially when covered in water. Most of the time I just get wet (skin is both breathable and waterproof). I take a folding jacket (Montane Featherlite) but normally only wear it for stops.

This is good advice, once a top is really covered in water it will not be that breathable until it dries out enough.
