Felt frame warranty

Hi all,

Does anyone know what the warranty on a felt frame is these days?

How good is felt at honouring it? Should I be approaching the shop I bought it from or saddleback the Felt distributor?

The threaded insert on my 2013 Felt AR5 has broken loose.

Will be on the phone tomorrow but wondering if I will be banging my head against a brick wall.
I'm signed up for ride London so I've got a few weeks to sort it out but it's going to put a hole in my training.

Has anyone had this problem successfully repaired?

Felt seem to be pretty good at honouring warranty claims. A good thread is here:

I'd rate them "so so" but my claim is yet to be settled. I'm also working through Wiggle so my contact is with them.

Saddleback are the weak link, they made me wait 11 working days only to tell me they wanted more photo's which they then just sent to Felt USA. Apparently this was due to something about mountain bike world cup.

1 Month later from first contact and the bike has been collected so now I wait. I suggest you go via the place you bought it from.

Yes Saddleback have said to go through tredz the shop I bought it from.
    To be expected really.

Tredz have said to send frame to them, so it's now all stripped down and in a box.
    Should be collect plused tomorrow.
Will be interesting to see how long it takes for a decision.

Looks like ride London will be done on my ribble winter bike. Heavy metal but at least solid.

Approved, built up and would have been returned to me tomorrow had I emailed them in time. Instead it will be arriving on Saturday, a week and a day after it was collected.

As far as I can tell it didn't get to Saddleback it's been stripped down and built up by the Wiggle mechanics.

My 2012 AR4 frame has been replaced with a 2013 AR1 frame. Makes up for a month and a bit with no bike I guess.

    My driveside chainstay was cracked.

I guess it depends what Tredz/Saddleback has in stock.

    Ouch, thats good going.

Tredz received my bike at 12 on Friday and got a phone call by 3:30.

Strange story about the insert being in 2 pieces and just glued in so thats what they are going to do for me.
Be interesting to see what happens next week.

does anyone know if the ali insert would be 2 pieces? In my head it would be one sleeve all the way through.

Notification yesterday that the frame has gone to saddleback to be referred to Felt Europe.

Not a bad turnaround from Tredz and I'm happy that they are not going to try and repair it themselves.

Just as an update, Still waiting for Felt to decide what they are going to do.

Keep getting calls from Tredz so I can't fault them, but it's getting a bit tiresome now being told that they are waiting for Felt. ....

Well apparantly Tredegar have just taken delivery of a new frame for me.

No confirmation of what it is exactly or if there is any recognition that I had been without a bike for over a month.

The new frame is a result but I do worry about it happening again.

A month turnaround for a warrantee replacement frame is about par for the course and a lot faster than some. What kind of recognition are you after? I'd say you've had a good result.

Also, stop worrying as it's pointless. Enjoy your brand new frame instead.

So the frame turned up today :)

It looks like a 2013 AR1 frame which is a pretty good upgrade.
I need to get the headset fitted and cut the steerer but that's not a big issue.

My worry now is that it's marked up with a di2 sticker and there are inserts on a chain stay for the battery pack I imagine. Will my mechanical stuff fit?

My Z4 has all the fittings fir DI2 including the battery figment but actually has ultegra 6700. So yes, it will be ok. I think all high end Felt frames are Di2 compatible these days.
I have only two things to say to that; Bo***cks

Not certain if the image hs worked, but progress so far!

Waiting in a rear gear cable, hopefully arrive tomorrow.
Weighs in at 5.8Kg's as is with about another 1.6 to go.
should end up about 400grams lighter than my AR5 and hopefully stiffer in the rear end too.

Overall pretty happy with the result.

Again Felt and Tredz seem to be doing a great job.
I've sent a few photo's and it looks as though a new frame will be coming my way.

It's rubbish its happened but the customer service is impressive.

Bloody hell! Is it not putting you off Felt bikes at all?

After reading this thread I'd think twice...

The AR's ride really nicely and I've used them well. I reckon about 10000 miles between the 2 frames.

Neither have been crashed and I'm dissapointed that this has happened but I'm a realist and understand that quality problems happen.

    Hey third time lucky.....

Is that the fork? Is that a crack in the third frame or the one that just went back??

You sure your faith in Felt hasn't taken a bit of a hit??
