defective inner tubes?

I had a second bontrager 2.0 - 2.4 inner tube split between the molding seams inline with the valve today. both sides of the valve in staggered places had random straight line tears / cuts. they are on the inner side of the tube, the bit that sits in contact with the rim tape. It's a bit bizzare that i had two go in the same way. the one that went today was brand new and the first ride out on it.

my pressures ranged between 32 + 36 psi and the rim tape and tyres have no damage to them.

is there a batch of faulty bontrager inner tubes aroound at moment or is there something else that causes this?

How old are the tubes? Have you had them for a while but just got around to using them?

The age of the rear tyres vary. One is about 8 months old and the other is nearly new and used twice.

One of the inner tubes came with the bike, about 8 months old and the other was brand new out of the box the day before i rode it.

How long had it been in the box? They can deteriorate in the box.
