Fork issues

Hi all, today towards the end of a ride I went off a small step down and this happened to my XC28's.



I feel they shouldn't look like this.

I know they're crap, but I would like to get it fixed, as I can't afford to replace them with something better just now.

Any help?

Looks like you had the lock out on.

Thing was I didn't, the step was at the end of a series of descents and I distinctly remember unlocking the forks with the poplock. I thought the lockout was supposed to come off automatically if you hit a big bump? Can I just screw it back in?

You can screw it back in - but looks like the threads have ripped out.

My advice? Ditch the whole lockout assembly and fit a blank cap - ring TF Tuned.

Will the fork work fine if I pull the assembly right out in the meantime? I'll check the threads first of course.

It will work yes, but you need to cap it as the oil will come out!
