It's usual to supply links to specifications so everyone doesn't have to go looking.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

Can you buy through Decathlon on your cycle to work scheme?Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Not really I am based in Newcastle and we don't have any here, I know Decathlon very being French and they are very good, Evans cycles in on the scheme if that helpAlex0

You might get a better deal not using cycle scheme, even taking in to consideration the tax saving.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Saracen Mantra Pro- http://www.bikeradar.com/mtb/gear/categ ... -14-48529/0 -
I had a Mantra and I loved it well I still got it but it' 7 years old I have now settled for the Trek x caliber 8 a bit more money but evans cycling is having £100 off the caliber 7 is now discontinued so very hard to get in most shop, the good thing about the saracen mantra is the 120mm fork, I have today tried the caliber 8 and it feels great to ride. Good luckAlex0

The X Caliber 8 isn't very good for the price, even at £700. The fork is pretty bad and the tyres will be completely useless off road. The brakes are ok but not great. For less money there are better bikes available from Halfords and Decathlon.
Big brands are generally very poor value below a grand.
This is the best on Evans website. Much better than the X Caliber 8 and worth the extra cost for the fork alone.
