Today, this was delivered as I was just leaving the house to limp to klinik, with blood dripping from my knees.

But, after being hit from the side and sent into a parked car, and spending my afternoon in the hospital, I don't think I'll be riding it anywhere for a while. Nothing broken, only bruising and a dented ego.

I will have to retire the SCR part of my name, though.

Thank you very much! It's surprisingly light too.
I couldn't find a white garage door to lean it against. Sorry.

Seriously, you can't have a bike like that and not slam the stem! It looks stupid...

I'm not sure about the quality of that frame finish - it's covered in bubbles!!!

The stem will be slammed in due course. I promise. It had also better not be too big. I bought it because it's smaller than my current frame.
The frame weighs in at a porky 1495, with seat post collar, d.hanger, a bunch of stickers and grease. The fork is a not too shabby 377g with bung. Full spec and build to follow.

    Another teaser.

I'm not crazy about 'Ritchey' parts. For reasons unknown, I just don't like the name. Looks good, though. So I'll go with it.

Is that the New Pro Cycling Manager? That always happened to me when I played it. Andre Greipel's bike would suddenly disappear! It was a little creepy, actually.

105 throughout, except for the FSA Gossamer Chainset, which I like, so it stays. HTII, which I also like.

Basically, I had a choice between new pedals or a new brake set. The brakes won. But I thought I would take the psychological upgrade for the pedals. Now they are considerably better than yours.

Kudos to anyone who knew which logo was on the pedal before its numerous battles.

I am not a fan of these so called 'stealth' bikes, they are not visually appealing. I will be introducing a blue theme throughout, starting with some spacers I had lying around. It won't be to everyone's taste, but for those who don't like it, don't fret. You don't have to ride it.

No kidding? What does yours weigh in at? Mine was surprisingly heavier than the quoted weight.

In any case, weight isn't everything. Size and stiffness should hopefully be markedly better than my older SCR.

A good combination of size and stiffness is definitely the Holy Grail.

It would be nice, to be honest. Especially after years of mild discontent and a "it will have to do" attitude. Working part time in a job I certainly don't love means that I have to be wise with my budget, so this really is as good as it'll get for a while.

    Some more pictures:

The drivetrain is mostly up and running. I need to get me a new cable for the front mech.
172.5mm cranks and wireless cadence sensor.

Zéfal cages are light at 46g, springy, durable and hold the bidons over the pavé.
The bidons came directly from the back of the Giant team car at the Bayern Rundfahrt

This is a concept of some pastel blue that I want to introduce. I'm open to other ideas. This tape doesn't look like it will stick very well, especially on the matte finish.

Pretty filthy by my standards, but removing the factory chain lube is no easy task. I'm not keen on white spirits or anything that damages the environment, so I am open to cleaning solutions.
I'm sticking with the Shimano R550s for now. I might save up for a set of Ksyrium Elites. For now, these are more than fine.

105 rear mech has been in the wars, but it's clean, and functions as the day I bought it. The cassette is 11-25

The brakes arrived today, and now the build is finished.

Weighing in at 8.9kg, it's more than I wanted, but I won't lose too much sleep over it. Only an hour or two per night.

I opted for sky blue to bring some colour to the build. The retro style stripes were designed to be minimalist, and if I decide I don't like it, I can simply tear them off.
    14674482211_7616b93d51_c.jpg

The stem is likely to be "slammed", I need a test ride or two before I decide on my position.
The top of the bars has an extra layer of padding, whereas the drops have only one layer. This should give some relief over longer rides.

105 Calipers slow down the Shimano WHR550 wheels. I will save up for some Ksyrium Elites.

Bryton Rider 50 keeps me heading along the correct bavarian roads.

Full spec to follow. I need to type it all out.

The bar tape? I admit, I bought that with my Giant in mind. So I was building this bike around the new bar tape :D

Like the bike, like the tape. Which make and colour is it? Doing a blue build myself and sky (not SKY) blue would go nicely, especially as I will fit a sky blue Charge Spoon.

Thanks. The bar tape is standard Deda, Sky Blue, which is available from most mainstream online retailers. The decorative tape is something I found in a local arts & crafts shop. By coincidence, the colours match perfectly. A single wrap of clear tape should stop it from peeling off, although I have plenty left on the roll.

My scales must have been way off, they overestimated my weight too. I'd like to think the following chart is more accurate:
    14702361363_758f2fa675.jpg

It's no weight weenie, but it's good to see where I could save some weight when it comes to replacing worn out parts. It looks a lot like the pedals will be replaced first. They are completely shot.

Thanks, spotted that it was Deda on Wiggle so a roll has been ordered. Now for the matching saddle.
