Were your old ones tapered?Cube Analog 2012 with various upgrades.0

I had the exact same bike. You will need a straight 1.1/8" steerer with QR dropouts (assuming you have the original QR wheels). You could potentially go anywhere from 100-140mm on travel. I had 140mm on mine and it rode very well. Obviously the easy/simple option would be just to go for 120mm again and as said above, Rebas are a good choice. However, there are cheaper and more expensive options.0

What's wrong with your rebas? There's not much to go wrong with them unless the chassis is damaged.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

thanks for the replies what's the difference between tapered and straight then, how do I know what I need,
I got the spec Rock Shox Reba SL, Dual Air, 120mm travel, 32mm stanchions, disc only, alloy steerer, Motion Control damper, rebound adj. w/ LO, mag lower
all the forks I look at are tapered !!0 -
A tapered steerer is 1.5" at the bottom and tapers into a 1.1/8" up to the top. A straight steerer is just one size from bottom to top. Unfortunately your frame cannot take a tapered, even with a different headset so you will need a straight steerer.0

right I think I'm getting there, thanks for the feedback just a couple of more points. has the fork got to be quick release and if so has it got to be 9 mm. and will It take 140mm travel I heard if you get to large travel it effects the handling and makes the bike feel weird
thanks for the help and patience bit of noob when it comes to bikes0 -
Yes, it has to be 9mm QR unless you get a new wheel. The bike takes 130mm travel max.0
-
thanks !! what about steerer length just in case I get one second hand0
-
Measure old steerer length ;-)0
-
it never made it back from the fork shop0
-
Ah! Measure the headtube length including the headset cups. Ideally the steerer needs to be at least 50mm longer than this. Headset spacers can make up the difference.0

Oh I'd ask for the fork back. Bits of it will sell for good money.0

What was wrong with it that it was beyond repair? 4 years is nothing for a set of forks even if they have had no maintenance - My recons are 4 years old and perfect, my old bombers were past 10 years and peachy without ever having more than a wipe down with a damp cloth.Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0

That's worth at least £50.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
