press fit bb

Hi folks, I've been reading into bottom brackets lately and from general interest and curiosity I am trying to learn more about the different ones. I own a trek elite MTB and am tying to figure which bb mine has. On the spec of the bike is it just says press fit bb, I know trek do their own bb90/95 or I've read it may be a shimano press fit bb, I've been reading a good article on bike radar re bottom bracket types but its still going over my head, also I've heard horror story's that if these press fit bb get wet they rust and fall apart quick is this true? Thanks mark.

    Read the info on park tools. Then measure the shell width.

    Alu or carbon frame?

    The crank is a shimano fc-m552 which is deore equivalent I think, hollowtech 2, the frame is aluminium. I'll have a look at the park tools site.
