From Gatorskins to Schwalbe ones

So having ridden Gatorskins clinchers for over a year I thought it about time I bought some better tyres for club runs / sportives etc. So I bought the most up to date fast road tyres I could find namely Schwalbe Ones. I never really believed that better tyres could be any different. How wrong I was! I cannot believe the difference these tyres make to your comfort, grip and rolling speed. For anyone thinking about moving from 'safe' tyres I say go for it.

Well, your starting point was pretty ghastly... Gatorskin are for sure the worst tyres I have ridden in terms of ride quality.

I'd like the opinion of someone who has ridden something nice before.

Yeah, Gatorskins aren't great for ride quality tbh so anything else would have been an improvement!

I'd like to know how they fare in comparison to the Ultremo ZXs since they seem to be filling a very similar niche. The ride quality of those is great, but the durability on British roads is sadly not really adequate. After having to bin *another* fairly new Ultremo ZX due to sidewall failure, I'd like to know if the Ones prove any more durable; the marketing guff (http://roadcyclinguk.com/gear/schwalbe- ... eview.html) suggests Schwalbe have tried to address that issue, but whether that proves successful I'll guess we'll have to wait and see.

I've ridden Gatorskin tubs and Ultremo HT tubs (now replaced by the One), as well as many other tyres. Very impressed with Schwalbe, hope the One is as good as the HT.

I havent had gatorskins for a long time, i found them to be very tall (not sure if that is the roght word!) with a very square corner so when going from cornering to straight again it felt very weird.
