After a new steed but not sure in which direction to go.
Looking for a more relaxed sportive type bike not an out and out race machine due to lower back issues. Also the lower gearing the better as I'm a tad on the large size!
My dilemma is, do I go for an established brand higher spec frame and lower spec groupset or slightly cheaper frame and higher spec groupset. Example Giant Defy Advanced 2 with 105 = £1899. Ribble Sportive Azzurro with Ultegra my spec £1750. Likewise I can get a Dolan L'Equipe with Ultegra for the same price as the Giant.
The Ribble frameset is £499 and the L'Equipe £399.
Any advice welcome.
Thanks
Gary

I would buy the best frameset you can afford, the rest can be upgraded."It never gets easier, you just go faster"0

Yes, go with the best frame. With new 105 the gap between drivetrain levels is reduced further, with weight Being the only penalty between DA-105 ( unless someone can tell me otherwise), so it's worth saving a few penniesCanyon Roadlite AL-Shamal Wheels-Centaur/Veloce Group
