Bike of the year etc, are the reviews based on performance alone or performance against price ?
For example if a bike £2000 is rated 3 star if the same bike was on sale for £1000 would that make it a 5 star ?

It depends who is doing the review but price will always be taken into account and often the score is broken down into Performance/Value/Overall too.
