hello there.

I am new to mountain biking. I just bought a Trek Remedy 7 a couple of weeks ago. This is my first mountain bike. And I am a complete beginner on Mtb.
I am clueless to the upgrades i put on the bike. I traded in my stock crankset, brakes, shifters, and FD to:

FD - Shimano deore XT
Crankset - Shimano SLX Hallowtech 2 3x10
Brakes - SLX
Shifters - SLX

I am still using my stock chain and cassette. Do I have to replace them as well or is it ok to just use them?
what will be the disadvantage of using the Remedy's stock chain on a Shimano SLX crankset?

Please help.. I'm a complete idiot to mountain bikes but i want to learn this sport.

Upgrade parts when they wear or you feel you need a performance improvement otherwise you're just throwing money away.
Upgrading the front derailleur for example is a complete waste of money.
One chain is the same as another. You don't need to match a SLX chain to SLX cranks. Change it when it's worn.

So you replaced new, good stuff, with new, good stuff?

What is the stock chain and cassette?

AFAIK, the crankset you replaced with SLX, was SLX to start with.

And Deore brakes are excellent. Or in this case, were.

The only difference between SLX and Deore brakes is the tool free reach adjustment. Seems a pointless upgrade.
