Terrible luck for Emma Pooley getting those nose bleeds a few days ago. Wondering will she focus on the mountains jersey now..might get pretty interesting with Mara Abbott aswell.

2,300 metres of climbing tomorrow over 112 km. :D

Pooley has obviously recovered, she's just won today's stage. (Which I think is the first stage win for a team other than Rabobank-Liv).

I was wrong of course, Giorgia Bronzini won the second stage for Wiggle-Honda.

This whole thing needs more attention.
The only way women's racing is going to get bigger is if we can demonstrate someone is watching.

Little anecdote - I was watching the Tour of Flanders in Oudenaarde.

Saw the women set off, gave them a cheer. Stayed in the same spot - the organisers took the start line parafinalia down - was a bar in the same spot showing the men's race.

With around 80km to to in the men's race the women started coming through the square having just finished their race, in drips and drabs. No one even looked away from the screen, and some were so distracted they were actually in the riders' way. And this is THE cycling nation.

UK is different in that its initial experience with cycling was Olympics which is fairly gender equal(ish) so already has some female household names. That's unusual though.

I'm confused with Pooley. I thought she had retired a couple of months back and she was down as riding the Nationals for VC Norwich but then turned up riding as a Lotto rider and is now doing really well here.

She's been riding with Lotto all season, with this race always being her main target.

I've been in riding around Verbania all week, where today's stage started. The weather has been very up and down with warmish days then cold days... even some snow in the mountains. Today started in relatively good but cool weather then the rain came in and it was a bit of a stinker.

1st claim club VC Norwich in UK perhaps?

Really happy for Pooley on those two nice wins. Abbott doing well.

    Final day today.

Photos for Pooley's two wins on the site I posted above are worth looking at.

Scratch that, Pooley takes her third stage win (one behind Vos) of the race.

    Haha, nice work.

Really are very few people capable of winning in the women's peloton though.

Unbelievably bad sportsmanship from RaboLiv, kettling in Mara Abbott.

Yeah that is not good. You would have thought Rabo-Liv have not won enough this race if they had to resort to stuff like that

Don't think I have seen anything as blatant as that over and over. Really not impressive by those bullies.

I am a big fan of Abbott. If I was her I would have been very tempted to ride into Prevot.

Have to say seeing Liv ride as they have done all that springs to mind is Gewiss type domination. Not cool. Women's cycling really isn't going places.

Very poor. Hope that comes back to bite them next time they want another team to help them out.

That's racing folks. Abbott hasn't complained publically, as she knows it's part of racing.

Well although not illegal it is not sporting. I have never seen that sort of level of blocking occur before.

If you watch the footage it occurs a multiple times all the way up the final climb. I've never seen anything as blatant as that - corralling not blocking. It's racing of a sort. The only response for Mara would be to make room but she's not exactly got the physique for that.
