Hi guys and girls,
I am new to the whole mountain bike, Have not been on a bike in a few years, Any way enough of that, I just joined the c2w scheme via Halfords, and need some advice on a choice of bikes.
I have the option to go for anything to the value of £1000 but need to keep some money aside for some gear as i have nothing.
My choice is:
Boardman HT 650B
http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/m ... -650b-2014
Boardman Hardtail 29er
http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/m ... -29er-2014
Whyte 801 27.5
http://www.leisurelakesbikes.com/p/1484 ... -bike-2014
I also like this
Whyte 805 650b Hardtail
http://www.leisurelakesbikes.com/p/1537 ... -bike-2014
I am not sure what i should or should not go for, I have a feeling Halfords will steer me in there direction not what i want and need, I want the best bike i can get for my money, As i will be using it for commute to work via cycle traks, also will be doing some trails etc over the summer, So need something that will handle.
Any advice will be great

The Whyte bikes all have poor forks for their price points. Without a shadow of a doubt you should be getting the Boardman. You just need to decide which size of wheels you want.
Personally I'd go for the 650b as I think 29ers look like clown bikes. However if you really want the bigger wheels then you should look at the Boarman Pro instead as it's a nice step up. Also you may have problems finding a Halfords that has any of the Team bikes left in stock (depending on what size you are.)0
