I have been given advise that my ideal "reach " is around 385mm , how do I now know what size bike to ride !
How do you transfer the reach measurment to the bike size ?
I am looking at a bike with a 540 top tube and 110mm stem this feels a little streched ,is it possible to calculate if a 90mm stem would fit ?
I know what some answers may be ,try a 90 and see !! Ok but Iam interested to know about this reach thing.
Any help will be very much appreciated.
regards
ILG

Try an online bike fit calculator like Competitive Cyclist - it is based on 'averages' but will get you in the 'ball park' and will calculate dimensions like stack and reach. Likewise, you will find these dimensions on many maker's technical information. A decent shop will also provide a bike fit/test ride and advise you on set-up - often the eye of an experienced fitter is far better than a nominal dimension like reach.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
