Looking at Campagnolo Asymmetrical Vento for my BIanchi Sempre, a slight uprade on the supplied maddux wheelset...
Does anyone know the difference, in terms of preformance or any other criteria for that matter, between the standard and G3 versions?
Cheers in advance

Oh, and any other recommendations for a lightish wheelset under £250 (though cheaper is better) to suit a Campag set-up?

these are showing as only £217 for me to Guernsey, but think they are a shade under £250 with VAT0 -
G3 combines a 2:1 pattern which is good because it equalises spoke tensions between drive and non drive side and give you twice as many spokes on the dished and hence "weak side" of the wheel. On top of that the G3 geometry bunches the spokes so that the exit angle from the DS hub is optimised to deal with the torque.
The down side is that there is a lot of unsupported rim surface.... so if one spoke pops, you are looking at a major buckle... but of course factory wheels are made for power transfer and not to minimise damage when things don't go to plan. And of course it is common practice these days to use a mobile phone to spoil your partner's sunday when the wheel spoiled yours...left the forum March 20230 -
Cheers for the advice...
so on the balance (excuse the pun) would you recommend the G3 over standard or does the risk of a broken spoke outweight the stiffness benefit?0 -
On balance if a broken spoke happens on any factory wheel it is pretty much un rideable so don't worry about it. If you do worry about it get a wheelset with more spokes. that your choice really.http://www.thecycleclinic.co.uk -wheel building and other stuff.0
