Out at the trail centre at the weekend I couldn't help but notice more that a few guys on MTBs wearing Lycra, please, tell me this isn't the future...

As monkey said. I think there's a difference between mtb Lycra and roadie Lycra.

If you have a finely honed ripped Adonis of a body like me Lycra is not a problem. If you are a large, Hairy mountain biker then I wouldn't bother0

I always wear roadie lycra on the MTB.

I wear long padded tights under my baggies mainly because where I ride there is loads of nettles, brambles and millions of gnats so I just try to keep skin covered up, still amazes me how you get stung and cut through clothes and the other day I had a gap of around 1-2" around my ankles and I got 15 bites on one ankle and 5 on the other, how can something so small cause so much discomfort / itching :shock:0
