Hubs - Sealed Bearings

I would like to put some better bearings in my Miche hubs; could someone tell me if any of the Hope range of bearings would fit? They seem to be well regarded. Alternatively, can anyone suggest some alternatives? Cheers.

Simply bearings (http://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/) is an excellent source of replacement hub bearings.
Get the size details or part number for your Miche bearings and plug those into the search function. If you can find SKF or FAG replacements I would recommend those. Likely to be more costly than some but well worth the expense0 -
6001 C3 is the bearing size do not forget the C3 it is a clearance bearing. Put a normal 6001 in there and you will get short bearing life, that maybe your problem if you have changed the bearings before and the wrong bearing has been used. SKF 6001 C3 bearings are £3.69 on simply bearing the last time I looked that cheaper than the miche replacements! although I have not found anything wrong with the bearing life of the originals not sure if SKF's are much better.
Hope do not use a 6001 bearing in any of there hubs (I think) and the freehub body bearings will still be the original grade so expect them to wear out quicker.http://www.thecycleclinic.co.uk -wheel building and other stuff.0 -

I do not want to challenge your knowledge of the subject but I am a little confused. Simplybearings say "... bike wheels do not require c3..." and "c3 typically suited to hot and high speed environments". This seems to contradict the above. I chose 6001-2RSH- SKF which has standard clearance, on the basis that this is a low speed application and rubber shielding would keep the muck out .Have I got it wrong?0 -
Many thanks for the responses. I think I'll order some of the SKF 6001 C3 from the suggested website.0

Personally, I would go with standard clearance bearings. These will already have some play and C3 bearings will probably have too much play in them, unless the manufacturer has allowed in their design for the additional preload C3 bearings generally needed."an original thinker… the intellectual heir of Galileo and Einstein… suspicious of orthodoxy - any orthodoxy… He relishes all forms of ontological argument": jane90.0 -
The bearing in a miche hub has 6001 C3 stamped on the seal. So regardless of whether you think that is wrong it is what Miche put int here hubs and I see no reason to change that especially when I have seen the results of a standard 6001 bearing in them - short bearing life. There is a preload adjuster on Miche hubs which is why the C3 bearing is needed.http://www.thecycleclinic.co.uk -wheel building and other stuff.0
