Campag brake cables. Issue

I sure you can't get Campag brake cables but bare with me.
I have been building a bike for my lad and it's running 10spd Campag zenon shifters
I can't get normal brake cables to seat correctly as they catch the housing when the lever is released stopping the lever from fully returning. The end stop which seats in the lever always seems to be too large, the only way I can make it work is if I file down the end so it's smaller,, or by using Campag gear cable, now I know neither is safe so the bike isn't in use. Can anyone help ,, it's driving me mad

    campag brake cables are not the same as shimano/sram etc.

    Never had such problems with brake cable as they have always been the mixed type I have used that do both and worked which ever end I've used..

    Everyday is a school day. Il get some ordered and see how I get on.

    The hole the cable passes through inside the lever probably only works one way. One end of the hole is counter sunk to allow for the blob on the end of the cable. Rotate the spindle with the hole in it to check.

    Yep I've got that sorted, it still pokes out a long way when using compatible cable rather than Campag dedicated
