CX Ray windup sanity check

First time building using aero spokes - am I right in assuming that since I am using a spoke holder I don't need to "overshoot then back off" my nipple tightening since wind up is essentially being prevented by the holder? Or can there be a little windup in the region between the nip and the holder perhaps? Using a Spokey and a Sapim holder, for reference. Ta!
