London - New Forest

Not remotely a tour or expedition, but I'm looking for route suggestions for London to the New Forest - more specifically Kentish Town to North Gorley (if it makes much difference).

I'd welcome any suggestions - obvisously I'd be looking to avoid main roads as much as possible.
