I needed to join my 6800 chain on a new bike tonight. Without a joining pin, my only option was a 10 speed quick link I had lying around in the parts bin

Did this initially just so I could finish the bike build and index the gears.

Thing is, it just seems to "work"

Whilst I await delivery of a new chain, is there any real reason I can't use it as is? Was wanting to commute and the new bike tomorrow it's only a few miles

Is it safe?

Probably too late for you now, but I've read of a few people using them in an emergency without an issue so I can't see you having a problem over a few miles.

    Thanks for the reply

Did indeed get to work in one piece with no issues at all.
