I've got a 2011Boardman Road comp and I think it's getting close to me replacing the bottom bracket. There is some slight movement in it and it's does close to 4k miles.

It has FSA cranks and a FSA BB-6000 Gossamer MegaExo Bottom Bracket. Those bb are quite cha ching for what I want to spend. After a but of reading around it isn't clear it i could use a different make.

Anybody have any ideas?
Something like a Shimano Hollowtech II for example
It is a sram cassette etc.

Specs say that the FSA cranks have the same spindle diameter (24mm) as Shimano HT2 cranks so in theory you should be able to fit an HT2 BB for use with your Mega Exo cranks.

However a quick Google on compatibility suggests that it may not be all plain sailing. Some have done it with no problems. Others claim it is not possible due to differing manufacturing tolerances. Others have got the FSA cranks to fit with some persuasion from a wooden or resin mallet.

On this last issue, however, my experience has been that even Shimano cranks need some hefty "malleting" to get then to install completely.

Shimano BB's eg 105 5700 are pretty cheap so you could take a gamble

Thanks for the reply. What you've said is exactly what i've read as well.

Like you say pretty cheap the shimano ones so perhaps worth a go.
