As per subject line, my previous bike was a supersix 105. Loved it dearly and a clear choice for my next bike however id like to hear some other views on what you'd buy in my position. The only thing im certain of is, id like some good wheels I will definitely not be able to upgrade on 3k and the wife will certainly not let me!!

Thanks in advance

You've maybe already seen it, but a great deal here on a Supersix Hi Mod:
    http://www.paulscycles.co.uk/m7b0s6p516 ... ACING-2013

They also have an offer on a half price set of Ksyrium SLS wheels at £400 if bought with the bike, so you could sell the vision tubs that come on it and make your money back.

Or this, I have one and can't recommend it enough.

Maybe you should consider something like a Rose or Planet X where you can configure it to what you want. If better wheels are your priority you can pick them first then look at what else you can put on to bring you up to budget.

Ive spent hours on their website, there are some amazing deals but ive never met anyone with one, to get some inside knowledge!

I seriously wouldn't go for either of those over the Scott Foil or the Supersix Hi-Mod both with SRAM red.
I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles

Not personally but I know loads of people who ride them and they look very good bikes. You do get a hell of a lot of bang for buck.

Aero frame, Full Dura Ace and Cosmic SLS wheel for under 3K

    And 6.9kg

Do that with a Scott or a Cannondale!!

That actually looks really nice! Great spec also! Cheers steve
  • canyon+1.

The frames are insane, and the spec your getting for money is very good value.

Worth considering though esp if you know what size youl be.

Are you sure you can't push the budget ever so slightly:

If not, the Cannondale does look lovely but those wheels are a pain (what were they thinking including tubs with an off the shelf bike?). I was looking the other day and they seem to go from £350 to £450 on ebay so I suppose you would still be at around the £3k mark if you bought the Mavics as well and sold them.

Would love to but unfortunately, it would be far to small!

Have you been and seen a good fitter and got some measurements to go off? If you know what your stack and reach is then it will narrow down your search. If you are spending 3k then the cost of a pre buy fitting from an independent fitter is a no brainer.

Having just got a new Canyon, I can thoroughly endorse this!

  • 3K and no idea with good wheels! Only sensible option is go to a very good local bike shop or specialist like Dolan in Ormskirk or Racescene in Barnsley who will build up a bike that fits you and fit good wheels from the start. 3K will get you a brilliant bike using this route

    Get one of the cannondales.

EVO hi mod red for 2999 is 2k off list and has everything you'd want surely.

If not, the regular evo di2 for 2100 leaves 900 for upgrades such as wheels (actually more if you count the money you'll get for selling the ultrgras on ebay).

I'm not a great fan of the way Dolan charge over £1,250 extra for Ultegra Di2 over the stock Sora on their builds. You could buy a full Ultegra Di2 group set for 900 or less, get say 150 for the Sora on ebay and be 500 notes better off. Makes me wonder if they overcharge for anything else on their builds.

For a touch under 3k I'm looking at a Scott Foil 15 with Di2 for 2100, will leave me enough to buy some decent wheels

I think id be happy without di2, it would be nice but I dont get overly excited by it. Thanks so far for all your thought's. I think im going to be doing a lot of travelling between bike shops to find the one!

3k was around my budget when I started looking for a new bike about this time last year. I looked at so many different bikes I just ended up in a state of total confusion ! As many have stated both Rose & Canyon are hard to see past, but I'm not sure on the mail order bit, I would got through a LBS, but that's just me.

In the end I purchased a Look 675 that came in just under budget, I'm now starting to upgrade to Dura Ace 9000 and I must say it is a stunning bike to ride. I know it's not to everyone's taste with the A-Stem system, but I'm more than pleased with it and love the fact it's different and it gets quite a bit of attention.

I agree Rokt, sometimes there is too much choice.

When I wanted to upgrade I started looking around and quickly got too many bikes on my list. But then since I had a CAAD10 already which I was happy with, I decided to stick with Canondale and went with the supersix as the geometry was very close so I knew it would work for me.

    I recently got a 2013 white di2 from Pauls.

    Canyon for sure

I was just in a similar position and after being lucky enough to test ride both a Canyon SLX and Aeroad i have recently received an Aeroad 8.0. Full SRAM Force and some great looking Cosmic Carbone wheels and all for just under £2800.

I personally preferred the Aeroad but you wouldn't be disappointed with either

The only problem you may have is they are very low on stock unless you need a very small or very large frame. I actually got the last Large Aeroad 8.0 they had in stock !!!

That will be because the new Aeroad comes out at the Tour (most likely)

Has anyone used westbrook cycles? I can not believe how cheap some of their bikes are! Im tempted with the High mod evo 6 dura ace!

I've a similar dilemma, but I'm not looking to buy until the Autumn (2015 models).

    I've narrowed it down to:

    Scott Foil 10
    Cannondale Hi Mod Evo Red
    Canyon Aeroad
    Boardman Elite Air 9.2

To be honest, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the above. Epic Cycles have good deals on the Scott and Cannondale with optional wheel upgrades. The Boardman looks good on paper, but appears a bit of an unknown quantity.

    Whether I'd buy without trying?
