Why I will never like cats...

Been away for a couple of weeks so it's nice to be back and see that nothing much changes on here - including VTech and his locked threads - keep up the good work.
Two weeks ago I was riding home to Liverpool from Church Stretton. I was on a single track lane surrounded by hedges when I sensed a rustling, heard a miaow and then, next thing I was on the deck in a world of pain.
Result was broken acetabulum (hip socket) which, because it's a pelvic fracture, means no weightbearing on left side for six weeks followed by 6 weeks gradual build up.
Had two weeks in Shrewsbury hospital being looked after by the most incredible group of nurses and health care assistants - I learned a lot about their compassion and professionalism. It was rather humbling.
Now home , mobile on crutches and so bloody jealous every time a bike goes past the house. Today was meant to be the first day of a tour of the Alps and Vercors - my friends have gone and are texting me updates which is great.
I have also learned that intravenous morphine is a wonderful thing but that crapping on a commode chair is an undignified process, that getting outside unaided on crutches after two weeks is a small achievement which feels like reaching the top of Mont Ventoux but that having to ask people to carry a cup of coffee from kitchen to front room is so frustrating.
But the big thing I've learned is that, while I didn't like cats before the accident, I will certainly never ever ever like the furry little s'#ts again.
Any advice on how the riding recovery is going to be would be gratefully received.

Take a leak out in your garden once a month or so, keeps them out"It never gets easier, you just go faster"0 -
Me neither. Hit a cat at 28 mph last week going down a narrow counrty lane. Got of lightly compared to you though pdstsp, just a broken collar bone and ribs!!0

Examples of concerted action by the animal kingdom against cyclists. First buzzards, now kamikaze moggies...0

Horrible beasts.. spawn of Satan. Kittens aren't cute.. two faced disloyal little b@astards. Can't believe some people let them sh1t on a tea tray filled with stones in the house! Nasty little f*ckers. Why tidy the house when you can clean your bike?0

You blokes have no idea....
If it wasn't for cute cats the internet would have been nothing more than a passing fad.....

Animals in the country , what will they dream up next !
I blame the cat's owners : clearly they hadn't made sure he was up to date with the highway code or told him to look out for bike-borne wildlife.....
"Hit a cat at 28mph" .... Sounds like you may have been looking at your speedo more than at the road ...0 -
