42t vs zee rear mech

I've taken a bit of a gamble on some transmission components by a brand called Fouriers. I'm mating the 42t with a Zee short cage. The jockeys clear the gears, but unfortunately now I've removed the 17t, effectively pushing the larger gears outwards, the cable arm no longer clears the gears.
Adjusting the B screw does not help clearance of the arm. Any thoughts on this?

Some of the manufacturers of cassette expanders supply a longer b-screw. I'm not sure it'd help though.
I've got a Hope T-Rex 40t and that works with a Zee Mech.0 -
After I posted this, I found a thread with a few guys running the short cage 11-36 Zee with a 42t:mtbr thread.
It's this picture which is driving me mad...
His clears the cassette... so what on earth is going on with mine?0 -

Also; It turns out the mech hanger was very slightly bent - only by a mm or two. I've straightened that out which has helped, but not made the mech compatible yet. As I'll have to purchase a new mech anyway, I'm attempting to modify it so the arm clears the cassette.0 -
