Strava - Routes?

i'm new to this Strava app,

I've seen people mentioning things like, "join our club on strava, we have some routes on there"

but I can't seem to see how exactly you can access someone elses route? can you use it as a gps route guidance to follow a route?

The only route option I do see that's obvious, instructs to use a desktop to enter a route. is that the only way ?

note: I just discovered custom routes & global heatmaps via a desktop. something that seems very powerful !

I think you have to be friends or in a group with a person to see their routes
