Been using my bike on the road with 27mm Vittoria Pave's at the moment (have a tubular wheel set).

Want to do a bit more off-road, bridleways and the like, but most riding still likely to be on the road

What tubs do people suggest that won't be horrendously slow on the tarmac but will give me some grip off road? say 75% road use weighting

I use the clincher version of this one for what you describe and it is an awesome tyre

I agree the XN is a good tyre, although much better in tubular guise. I use Tufo Dry Plus tubs for similar to what you describe, these have the advantage of being able to fix with sealant in case of puncture.

I raced Beastway on them last night, commuted to work this morning, and even rode the club 10 on them last week. A 115 mile club ride is also totally within scope.

A true do it all tyre, with amazing comfort built in.

Have more recently seen FMB Sprint and Dugast Pipisquallo. Any views on whether they are worth the extra (/ more than double...?) cost vs Vittoria XN's?
