I have noticed that there is a difference on Garmin elevation gained figures when they are uploaded to my account. My 200 showed 8337 feet gained when out on the bike and as my personal best on my account summary. But when I look at the route info for the trip is shows 6573 feet gained.Anyone any ideas as to why? Thanks

Elevation corrections are enabled as default for the 200 as it does not have a barometric sensor built in, this gives a more accurate altitude reading when uploaded to Garmin Connect, so the lower figure is the one to go on.

As I understand it the elevation figures on the G200 are derived from GPS which are notoriously prone to error. When Garmin Connect collects the actual route from the G200 it applies this data to a Digital Map which gives, more often than not, a more accurate figure. All this might be untrue.

I'm not sure if i'm just unlucky but i find even on my edge 500 the elevation is at best a rough estimate. Some days it will just stop half way round my ride and if the weather is anything other than still it is all over the place.

At one point on saturday it was saying i was going up a 200% gradient! See if you can spot it below:

My 500 threw a wobbler yesterday despite setting the start altitude. Metres climbed dropped from 761 (barometer) to 430 after correction by garmin connect. 200%, ouch!

Was this at the mid point on your ride when you took a rest and turned off/back on your garmin by any chance? I get that all the time on my 800, doing the height correction thing on Strava then sorts it out. Sometimes when I start off, the altituide is showing as a negative number, which then gets corrected at the coffee stop - not dissimilar to your graph above.

no, didnt stop it all the way round, it was after a heavy rain shower had passed through (luckily just ahead of me so i didnt get caught in it!) so think it messed with the barometer. Recently if its even slightly wet it just doesnt record the elevation at all.
