Hi there

Am having a little difficulty removing my freehub and could do with some help. I have got a race this weekend and my rear wheel has been crunching a little so really want to take the freehub off and regrease it to stop the noise. It's nothing too loud but definitely sounds like there is not enough grease in there.

My wheels are Fulcrum WH CEX 7.0s. They came with my Focus Cayo Evo 4.0. They look like rebadged racing 7's but I do not think they are exactly the same.

I have looked at the instructions on the Fulcrum website but I think I am missing something. I have taken photos of each step I have taken in the hope someone knows where I have gone wrong!!! So here goes:

1. I removed the cassette (I can do that much).

2. I unscrewed the axle from the freehub

3. I removed the cap over the non-drive side bearings

4. I removed the black metal spacer in the non-drive side axel hole (tee hee)

5. I removed the metal bearing cover (non-drive side)

6. I removed the rubber bearing cover from within the freehub

And that's where I have got to. This is what all the parts I have removed look like:

The Fulcrum guide seems to suggest I push something to remove the freehub (as does a video I have seen on youtube) but there is nothing for me to push?? The only thing that it could be is the black spacer thing but I can't believe it is that as it clearly isn't attached to the freehub?

Any thoughts/guidance would be most gratefully accepted and appreciated!!

Hi there, Ive own 5's and 7's and normally the removal is pretty much straightforward. I honestly think that if you get hold of it with a rag or something and give it a strong pull it should come off as it is only being held in by its teeth at the hub. Sometimes its a question of brute force as I thnk you have done everything correctly. A word of warning though, don't grease, you need to use a very very fine / light oil in order that the freehub doesn't drag. Good luck
