I had forgotten all about him. News states that he is no longer in a coma and has left hospital to rehabilitate. I cannot begin to imagine what his condition is like, but am sure that it isn't good for quality of life after such an injury and length of coma. I hope I'm wrong.

I don't think there have been any statements to the press etc. Sadly, that would lead me to suspect he has not recovered as well as they may have hoped and they don't expect him to.

when i first saw the headlines online i thought he'd recovered significantly

but what i've then read suggests he's still in a terrible condition and no one can say what his chances are, very sad

i remember seeing him win at silverstone, so full of life

    :(

Hope it all works out (at least in the medium term) though short term will be hard. I think it would be hard to see someone who was quick/sharp etc fall to a bad state, never mind how hard it would be for him or his family and friends.

    The headlines are very misleading.

he's been out of the coma for weeks now, visitors have reported brief moments of consciousness and that his eyes were responding to stimulus.

What we have here, sadly i fear, is a man who will be in a vegative state for the rest of his days.

I hope and pray i'm proved wrong. The bloke was an inspiration to me and it pains me greatly to know the state he's in.

    Sadly this is true.
The chance of an even close to normal life have long since gone.

I am just curious as to why more hasn't been made of the dangers of wearing helmet cams, surely this shows how dangerous the current methods are ?

That's just speculation at the moment. Proper testing needs doing.

Helmet Cam manufacturers aren't going to go out and prove thier products are lethal. Helmet manufacturers are going to simply add wording of 'guarantee voided if ancillary equipment is affixed to helmet' (goes for lights too).

It would be a good project for a dissertation or masters materials student.

It isn't speculation, the camera penetrated his skull opening his brain to the elements.

Kinda glad I hate wearing a helmet cam and so attach it to the ski/pole/bike or board.

Lets not tell the commuters, it can be our secret.

I feel that any response about Seano and Arran should be in the BB

Can you point me in the direction of your proof for this please?
Nothing i've ever read mentions this, the possibility that the camera fixing weakened the helmet yes, but not the graphic scenario from above.

Have to agree with Bianchimoon on this, everything i have seen has been orientated towards the "maybe" the camera was an issue rather than categorical proof it was. All the articles talk about further tests required (most dated Jan/Feb) and little or nothing mentioned since.

Some such claim was in the Daily Mail back on 16th February. It is not some kind of inner circle knowledge.

Im 100% not going to read another post tonight.
Im going to bed with a warm feeling within my tubular like belly and thats a good thing :)

On a serious note, Schumacher is one of my heroes, I grew up marvelling at his skills, yes he was reckless but so are all winners. His ability to react quicker than others was unbelievable at times and without doubt one of the best drivers of his time. Its so sad that someone who has given so much to others has his life almost certainly taken before his wife/family get to truly enjoy it with him.

I really don't think there is any info to share, all reports are on the internet from first responders to specialist neuro surgeons, the camera mount may/may not have compromised the integrity of the helmet which split in two, absolutely no reports of the graphic depiction of Vtechs "It isn't speculation, the camera penetrated his skull opening his brain to the elements.", the Go Pro camera was undamaged and working after the accident. A non story, nothing to see here please move along.

Vtech, You've added nothing at all new. Nobody is/was saying the the camera/mount were a major contributing factor. I take issue with you saying the " the camera penetrated his skull opening his brain to the elements" when this is categorically NOT what happened. Schumacher had an epidural haemotoma. NOT a "penetrative brain injury opening his brain to the elements".

    I repeat

So, to make this 100% clear, you are saying that the mount didn't penetrate the skin, skull leaving an opening in the head. I never suggested the mount went into the brain, I informed in this thread that the mount penetrated the skull.
It was suggested that was a lie when in fact it was the truth even when it was suggested that the camera wasn't damaged and worked perfectly afterwards.

Anyway, this isn't important, a man has suffered a terrible injury so wether people want to listen to the truth or make up lies isn't the issue.

I've done a quick translation of your reply, I think i understand most of it...
So I say again give me your proof of your graphic Quote "It isn't speculation, the camera penetrated his skull opening his brain to the elements." and I'll politely say you were right, but of course you don't have that proof, just idle speculation, so I say AGAIN all reports say Schumacher had an epidural haemotoma. NOT a "penetrative brain injury opening his brain to the elements". Do you understand what I'm saying, please read carefully before replying. If per chance you are privy to information that none of the world's best journalists have you are are indeed on the inner circle and I salute you for that, if not.....
