According to Top Gear (must be right) the BMW 3 series is un-cool and the Mondeo is super cool.

thats because Topgear are sponsered by Ford.

Their reason was that every sales rep in the world drives a 3 series and that the Mondeo is less common and surprisingly good.

The Mondeo is a better drivers car than the base 3-series, that's a fact, but the interior is decidedly low rent by comparison, that's why I went for the best of both worlds which is a BMW M-sport as it is a better drivers car and has a better interior, that despite setting out to NOT a get a BMW but it was inescapable that it was the best car for me (after driving 6 competitors).....and as a 320D it's also now the best car in the world!

As this is the CC I'm sure I know where this will now go!
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

I have a 2009 Mondeo and it is great to drive and because it's a fairly high spec it has got a lot of toys but the interior build quality isn't quite up to BMW standards, better than my old 2006 VW Passat.
I just couldn't justify paying nearly twice as much for the same age/mileage (3 years/70k miles) 3 series with less gadgets.

But does it have more torque than a 330D?

    If not it's sh1t.

Possibly if you have the 2.5 turbo engine.

Where's surfmatt when you need him?
  • I'm pretty sure the 335d is the best car in the world.
I mean, the power and the looks are good... but the torque figures are just amazing.

Plus, you have an excuse to be a twat... or is it that twats buy bmw's? I can never remember....

    Twats buy Audi's now......

The 320D engine is lighter than the 330D's so the car handles better, torque is nothing without control........

I always find Honda drivers holding up traffic and causing accidents on the way back to the old peoples home.

My 320D Estate weighs a frickin ton, so the 2.0 feels relatively gutless to me. Would be interested to try a 3.0 or 3.5, as i'm sure my insurer would be.

As long as that only applies to cars, I agree.
