casual jersey

well I've got my urban cycling shorted and now need a casual/urban jersey to match.
I already have a traditional racing jersey, but I want something less obviously cyclist attire which will perform well for long summer rides.
I've ordered the Vulpine merino button jersey: http://www.vulpine.cc/Shop/Mens/Jerseys ... EY/ITM1091 (I bought last years in black for £55)
this jersey seems great for long rides as it's light weight merino.
i also ordered the Endura urban SS polo for the same price: http://www.endurasport.com/product-deta ... ductID=251
this is a mix of coolmax, polyester & merino wool and supposedly performs well.
I might order Chapeau's cafe jersey in grey or white stripes: http://www.chapeau.cc/review/product/li ... tegory/17/
or their friday jersey: http://www.chapeau.cc/friday-jersey-green-white.html
These jerseys look fantastic IMO but I worry the mix of cotton with the polyester may impact comfort on longer rides on hot days.
Naturally I can try them all when they arrive, but can't put them to the test. I'd love to hear from people with knowledge of these garments. Would you recommend one over the other for it's performance. They all look the part, especially the Chapeaus.

I have the Chapeau café jersey and it's great. Probably not the best attire for hot days though.Shut up, knees!

Thanks. The chapeau friday jersey arrived today, it's the same as the cafe, but only has 2 pocket which are better concealed.
It looks great, but yeah, not sure it would suit the hottest of days, but we don't get many of those anyway so I'll keep this. I'm still awaiting the Vulpine button jersey and Endura Urban Polo. Maybe I'll keep one of those too0 -
The Vulpine kit is lovely. I have the ladies zip up jersey. Use it for both casual urban cycling, but equally good out on the open road. Good pocket space etc!Specialized Dolce Elite - Commuter Bike

I like the look of these from Cafe Du Cycliste:

I am a little biased though - I got my top from their offices in Nice last year during the TdF TTT down there, and got chatting with the guy in there (spoke perfect English, thankfully!). They seem to have far more styles now than even last July - I might even get another, especially as the £ is so strong atm.0 -
The vulpine is quality, but the style of the button v-neck doesn't appeal to me after trying it.
If I could afford cafe du cycliste believe me, I'd be wearing it all the time! The Chapeau jerseys are derivative of cafe du which is one of the reasons I like, similar style, very different price tag0 -

Yeah, I agree - CdC is one of the 'every once in a blue moon' purchase, a bit like Rapha for me budget-wise. NOt sure I would have actually bought what I did, but I was on me hols, so thought I'd treat meself! I haven't got any Chapeau stuff appart from a rather fetchig maroon cap, but there is a 'Bespoke' bike shop (whatever that means) round the corner from where I work that sells their stuff, so at least I can have a good look before I get anything.0 -
I have found very thin merino tops from various manufacturers are all prone to the shape getting distorted quite quickly after washing. Not necessarily a problem if they are tight fitting as the shape usually sorts itself out once on and they stretch back into place. Admittedly these are all base layers, so it doesnt matter so much but if spending CdC money on one, I would be worried if that happened...
Thicker merino seems OK, I guess there are more fibres to hold it in place but every thin merino top I have does this.
Just to be wary, in case...0 -
I've just bought my first set of 'casual' gear for scoottling around with my boy when we're on holiday - I really wanted some cafeducycliste stuff, but in then came accross a 10% Vulpine discount. I bought their plain merino t shirt, padded boxers and shorts. All very nicely made and very comfortable on the bike...Wilier Zero.7 Chorus0

I sent the Vulpine back, although it was really comfortable, it just didn't suit me. Their Alpine jerseys look great though. I kept the Endura urban polo (merino/coolmax blend) as it looks casual and feels so light and soft. I kept the Chapeau friday jersey too.
That sounds like a good start to casual attire Il Sole. Did you get the summer shorts? If so how are they?0
