Jockey wheels - lateral play

Hi,

Was cleaning the bike tonight and while giving the rear mech a clean I noticed that the jockey wheels have a good 3-4mm of lateral play. Is this normal? Never really paid much attention. It is a 2 year old Shimano 105.

They need lateral play to do their job. If your gears are working fine and the jockey wheel bolts aren't loose I wouldn't worry about it. If jockey wheel bolts are loose use some threadlock to stop 'em coming off mid-ride.
