London to Brighton (and back) question

Been offered a place on this weekend's L2B ride - stepping in for someone who can't do it.
To make it worthwhile I'm going to do the return trip too, does anyone know if the A27 has a cycle path / cycle lane along the entire section to Lewes?
Obviously cycling back against the flow of riders coming from London is a no-go and this looks like the next most obvious way to get out of Brighton.
Thanks

I seem to recall it does but I never rode it in all the time I lived in Brighton so I can't be sure. The more scenic (but longer) route is to follow the coast out to Newhaven then head North up Lewes Road.
Alternatively, you could do a variation of the Hyde Park to Hove ride to get back. https://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?msid= ... 1c3c&msa=0
