Interesting, would be nice to know Wiggins' reaction to that.[Castle Donington Ladies FC - going up in '22]0
-
Poor Wiggins - can't catch a break with all these uppity youngsters (stands by for a mouthful for using age to attack riders now  ).0
-
Hasn't Wiggins position been he's preparing for the track and is too heavy for mountains?Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0
-
I thought I had read Wiggins was riding the TdS - that's not happening?0
-
Sky identfied him as leader for TdS.0
-
Nice! Let's hope Henao is capable of doing as he's told then.0
-
That terminology is strange. I didn't think it was pass / fail testing, I thought they were just trying to gain a better understanding of the effects of altitude etc. on the blood levels of athletes from that part of the world to try to explain the anomaly they identified during is OOC tests in the winter :?0
-
its all the usual Sky PR comms mess.
Sky announced 2 days ago: 'Sir Bradley Wiggins will ride the Tour de Suisse (14-22 June) following his impressive victory at the Tour of California, which was a key target for his season. Supporting him will be three team-mates from his Stateside success - Joe Dombrowski, Christian Knees and Luke Rowe - three of the Giro d'Italia team - Dario Cataldo, Philip Deignan and Ben Swift - and Pete Kennaugh, part of last year's Tour-winning team'
Wiggins told l'Equipe last week that he's already 2kgs heavier than Cali, as he's now training on the track, and so would be trying to win the TT rather than targeting the GC realistically. That can hardly have passed Brailsford by - the pair of them met at the NCC Tue last week.
If Henao has been cleared to race again AND if he's going to leader at TdS, Sky really could do with lining up the timing and content of their announcements a little better.0 -

Well, its l'Equipe's wording, so who knows....0 -

It's a genuine problem. How do you position a TdF champion who will get murdered on any meaningful climb against serious climbers? But to keep Wiggo's camp happy (and him out of the BBC studios) they have to 'honour' his status with talk of leadership....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0 -
2kgs heavier...wow...seems like he has given up all hope.Contador is the Greatest0

I do believe that all the 'serious' climbers are either at the Dauphine, waiting for Route du Sud, or taking a well-earned break back in Colombia - or in the case of Betancur, refusing to leave Colombia.
I'm always being told that TdS is a chipper.0 -

Wiggo not a meaningfull climber? He managed fairly well in the past. He may be a diesel but with his power output not many can stay with him on his day.0 -
Wow. That became all about Wiggins really quickly!“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0

Shouldn't be too difficult to get a GC ride then. I'm sure he's gutted that Contador wasn't riding in 2012 and Quintana had yet to emerge, not to mention setting the record straight against Froome....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0 -

Good to hear. Hopefully some sort of explanatory statement is released. Would be harsh on Henao if it's just sort of brushed off.0

Good point.
Let's get back to the Colombian fella. He's been keeping himself in decent nick, training-wise. Hope he does ride Suisse. In whatever capacity. And Sky look like they need him for the Tour.0 -

As for the Sky PR machine and confusion about who is doin what, where and when. Is this supposed to be a media company - is this not their bread and butter?
Excellent news re Henao. You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.0 -
Glad he's back. Wonder if any more detail is provided about the tests...Daz555 wrote:As for the Sky PR machine and confusion about who is doin what, where and when. Is this supposed to be a media company - is this not their bread and butter?0

2kg is nothing, I have managed to lose that in a week in the past with no problem at all just by sensible eating. An athlete could probably lose it in a few days (boxers do that for every fight).0
-
Plus a little extra chub will be useful for bouncing off dry-stone walls in Yorkshire0

How is inrng tweeting a comment from l'equipe anything to do with sky's PR people?"Unfortunately these days a lot of people don’t understand the real quality of a bike" Ernesto Colnago0

Indeed... but don't distract from the narrative please...
Except boxers put a big chunk back on again post weigh-in? Examples of guys weighing in at 10-7 and coming in over 12 stone the next day.0 -

"Sergio Henao will return to racing at the Tour de Suisse, following the findings of scientific experts at the conclusion of the independent research programme".
The 10-week programme has given the highest level of confidence in Sergio’s previous data and profiles, and offers valuable new insights into the physiology of ‘altitude natives’ such as Colombian climbers.
