I have a pair of Specialized sworks size 45. I wear a 43 in normal shoes and when I tried other specialized shoes I was a 44 but for the sworks had to move up to 45.

I think I damaged the sole during a crash, took a chip out of the carbon on 1 side and now they squeak if I let my foot roll outwards. I ride speed play zeros and am thinking about trying something different.

Looking at Bont vapour, sidi ergo 3 with speedplay sole or maybe giro factors. Any thoughts or recommendations?

  • Bont every time; shoes that are the same shape as feet ... How did they ever think of that good idea

try a few different brands/models, fit varies considerably

i had a pair of sidis, footbeds were useless, but they can be changed of course

also worth looking at lake, gaerne and dmts, they all do speedplay specific shoes

Had two pairs of Specialized ( comp and expert) and they were terrible,to the point that I've almost wanted to see a doctor given the amount of pain I was going through, I really could not belive it came from the shoes only.
Tried SIDI and never looked back, they are so comfy is not even funny. Yeh,crappy footbeds but they work out just fine, never felt urge to replace them.

Its a bit of a pain as none of the shoes I want to try are available in any local retail store so I have to go the mail order route.
What about sizing on the SIDIs? I used the sizing wizard on the bont site and it recommended 44 so I am pretty confident with that but for SIDI should I go 44 or 45?

I went one size up from my regular shoes size ( 44,went for 45) on my Sidi. They do leave a bit of extra room up front but that does not bother me. SIDI offers "Mega" sizes for larger feet too,I have skinny but large feet and got the mega version, again these shoes were the best purchase I made since I've started riding. Bought the same model for MTBiking and I've been trashing the heck out of them, they still hold up just fine.
Shoes,at least one of the last things we still know how properly make here in Italy beside ramming cititizens with taxes....

Another for Sidis. I bought Sidi Dragon2s for MTB use and they are super tough, classy and once they are worn in comfy. Did go up from my normal 42 to 43.

For every 10 people that love Bonts, you'll find 10 that hated them.

Same for other shoes too. I love my S Works; I tried Bont, Lake, and Sidi, but many out there don't get on with them.

    Different people have different feet.
