Brake hose length

Guys

I am looking at some brakes for a bike I am doing up. Its a Medium 26" HT.

The length of the hoses for the brakes are;
1000mm
or
17000mm

Advice appreciated.

    One is normally for the front (short) and the other for the back. They will both possibly be too long.

    Or are you trtying to buy brakes based on hose length?

    Great, what length hose does your frame need?

    Is there actually a question in there?
    Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

    Ah, just read my Qs back.

    Apologies, was trying to call someone at the same time, ooops.

    Right, I am looking at some XT ones. They come in 1m or 1.7m length hose. Now, I assume the 1m length will be more than fine for the front.

    Will the 1.7m be overkill for the rear?

    I think, its possibly a LBS fitting job the more i think of it if I require cables cutting down.

    They will need shortening, fronts are typically 750-900mm long in use depending on bar width and whole fork length, rears typically around 1350mm installed on a 26" HT. Easy DIY job and even if you make a mess it will cost no more at the LBS to fix it!

    I try and use the LBS as much as I can. But when the brakes are £25 a pop cheaper online, I cant justify spending the extra at the shop to get them in AND fit them.

    I will get them to fit them when I get them. Saves me messing :)

    Ask them to sell you the brakes at £25 less and fit. That way everyone wins (except the online seller).
