I've just returned home with a used bike that is fitted with H Plus Sons rims laced with wired and soldered spokes and brass washers but I'm unsure on the make of the hubs if anyone can educate me please, also anyone have an idea of the builder. The skewers are X-Lite titanium from what I can find.

There are no identification marks on the hubs but they do look similar to Goldtec

Well from your smiley I'm guessing that's not good news then?

Well, they are cheapish hubs which use an elastic band in place of a metal pawl spring... the proof of the pudding is the freehub, Bitex one has 6 pawls

Thanks Ugo, well it looks like I'll just run them until they break then scrap them

I do wonder why someone would go to the bother of tied & soldered spokes on cheap hubs though
