The old Wilson was the best downhill bike I have ridden. I'm guessing this must be even better, not entirely convinced 650b wheels are right for downhill.

Nope, they're all going 650b although several top riders broke out the old 26" bikes for fort bill.
The few riders I know who have 650b dh bikes aren't convinced by them.
